Stream is a direct selling organization that started a "Women of Power” group several years ago because the company wasn’t seeing as many women promoting to leadership position as often (or as quickly) as the men in the direct sales force. In direct selling companies, each member of the direct sales force acts as an entrepreneur and individual business owner/builder. Direct sales has historically been a compelling opportunity for women to gain financial and time freedom, with 74% female representation in the field. Instead of selling makeup or nutrition products, Stream sells essential services (energy, mobile), which makes the company unique – it was the first to apply a direct sales model to the deregulated energy market.
Women of Power (WOP) is a community for women in business to discover their potential, develop their strengths and empower themselves with tools to achieve professional and personal success. The group provides regular, unique training and tools tailored to women in business, personal and leadership development, and a community that encourages each other. Training topics range from PR and communication, multi-level marketing business, social media, team building and more. WOP is active on social media, hosts a weekly conference call, and holds special WOP events at Stream’s events, in addition to holding its own annual retreat.
